Bloglovin has moved from being an RSS aggregator/ RSS reader to being a full on syndication site.
Jax Blunt, Making It Up
Over the last few days there's been a bit of a hoohah going on around how Bloglovin' are using blogger's content.
If you don't know Bloglovin' used to be an RSS reader, which gave people a great way of keeping up-to-date with their favourite blogs, and it worked well.
But behind the scenes Bloglovin' have been making, what I'm calling, some sneaky changes and you can read more about them here on Jax's blog. Since the hoohah Bloglovin' have reverted one of the changes, which they said was done in error, but it's more than that for me.
I think their response to blogger's concerns has been inadequate, but more than that they are still loading my content, including my photos, onto their servers and that's something I'm not happy with.
I work hard on creating my content and feel that I, not another platform, that should benefit from that work. So once this post has been live for a while (I've yet to decide how long) I'm going to deactivate my Bloglovin' account and remove my blog from this service, because I don't agree with their practices, and quite frankly it's no longer a service to bloggers or one I want to be associated with.
If you currently read my blog on Bloglovin'
Firstly thank you, and secondly sorry.
This change is going to affect you and I hope you'll continue to read my blog.
I've moved all the blogs I follow into Feedly, which is a great RSS reader, so I'll still be able to keep up-to-date and be certain that the bloggers I read will benefit from page views and shares, rather than a third party.
I'd love it if you'd like to join me over on Feedly, for me it's what an RSS reader should be.
