Reflecting on my week #44

This week, or mostly yesterday, I’ve been perplexed. It’s the strangest of things but I’ve lost my belt. A leather studded belt that I wear with trousers for entirely practical reasons. As it’s been so hot I’ve been in skirts and dresses, and so hadn’t noticed but as the temperatures dropped (and hasn’t that been nice) it’s nowhere to be found. And it really is quite odd.

I’ve looked where it should be (coiled up in my wardrobe) and quite often where it can be found (strewn in the bedroom floor) and its in neither of those places. Nor is it yet in the many more random places that suddenly become real possibilities, and its driving me a little potty.

I don’t like to lose things, it's really playing on my mind. I’m sure it will either turn up or it won't and it’s not that I don’t have another belt, it’s the mystery of it all.

While I haven’t been wondering about my belt I’ve had a fairly productive week; my new-ish sandals have made it downstairs to be olive-oiled, apparently it softens the leather.

Swedish Hasbeens awaiting oiling

Fab aren’t they?

While we were on our way sofa hunting we cut through Seven Dials and I spotted the Swedish Hasbeens shop and paused to check it out.  Unbelievably it was just what I was looking for as since the previous year I’d had “wooden sandals” on my shopping list (yes, I know, sad but true), but having found where I could buy them, it was back to the sofa shopping. It wasn’t until much later on that I went back and found the style I wanted, I wavered on the colour, but the classic tan won me over.

I've ordered my new garden pots to grow veg in, and once they get here i'll share more.  I ordered them over a week ago now and it seems that my expectation of next day delivery differs somewhat to the company I'm buying them from.  If I hadn't got such a particular requirement, and already done the research about where I could buy them from, I'm pretty sure the order would have been cancelled by now.  And I'll be telling them that, as soon as I've got my pots.

At the same time I ordered some seeds.  From a different company that didn't promise next day delivery, these arrived within two days.  And they're super cute and play right into my seed, veg growing, organisation and tin obsession.

A sneak peek at my mini seed tins

In fact I haven't done a Love This post in a while and wouldn't you know it, two appear in the space of a week.  Just like buses.  Look out for more on the seed tins later this week.

MOH has been with his family making arrangements and so on Sunday it was nice to spend some time together.  Feeling lazy, and hungry, we headed to the new Ivy Cafe for brunch.  It was our first time there and I was quite impressed with the brunch menu - we both had eggs benedict, with chips, followed by pudding and then an espresso martini.

A wall of colour in the Ivy Cafe in Blackheath

The artwork was colourful and in keeping with the art deco theme.  I somehow I don't think it'll be our last visit either, although we both still miss the restaurant it replaced.  That's partly why it's taken us so long to get through the door, but things are always changing aren't they?

Looking ahead to this week I'm starting to look for a location for our October holiday.  I quite fancy Copenhagen or somewhere Scandinavian, MOH has mooted Portugal again but we're not quite sure where or what right now.  I'm not sure if Copenhagen is more of a long weekend kind of place, haven you been?  What do you think - let me know.
