The Garden Year: April 2024

Welcome back to this month’s Garden Year linky - the first one of 2024. If you’re joining for the first time, you’re very welcome. The linky will stay open for the whole month, so I hope you’ll pop back during the month. I’m looking forward to reading about your garden projects and garden visits.

With Easter early this year there’s already been an early opportunity to get out into the garden - did you manage to start gardening? I’ve been away visiting family, but I’m hoping we’ll start to see some warmer and more Spring-like weather to help out with that. I definitely need my garden to dry out after what has been a very wet winter. The extent of our gardening so far has been moving around pots of daffodils, and welcoming the tulips - that’s it, so a very slow start to the gardening year for me!

I can’t wait to see what you’ve been up to, but if you need a nudge to get out into your garden, or out visiting those around you, here’s some links which may help.

The Garden Year: November 2023

Welcome to the last Garden Year of the year as realistically there’s little to post about over the winter months, and so this linky takes a break. Thanks to everyone who’s joined me throughout the year - enjoy the winter, let’s hope it’s kind.

The Garden Year: October 2023

My September gardening appears to have been dominated by cutting our lavender bushes - we have many in our new garden, at least six or seven, and none have been cut since they’ve been planted. The joys of a new build house, though I know I’m lucky that we have any plants (and grass) in our garden at all so this isn’t a complaint.

At least my major work this month has been fragrant - and rewarding, it’s great to see them take shape again, whilst remembering not to cut into the old wood.

Our gardening efforts are punctuated by when the brown bin will be emptied, and more often than not we’re out there - me with my lavender task, and MOH cutting the grass - the day before the bin is due to be collected. But at least we’re out there, we’ve also been visiting some National Trust gardens, so I’ll be sharing more about our visit to Hidcote and Killerton on my blog over the next month.

Enjoy your garden this month, there’s still plenty to be done - and if we’re lucky the weather will be on our side too!
