Post Comment Love & Newbie Showcase 8-10 January 2016

Welcome to this week's PoCoLo, the first in its new home, or one of its new homes! Today Morgan and I are excited to be co-hosting for the first time and like you, we are so grateful to Vicky for all she's done in the name of Post Comment Love.

It's still the same PoCoLo

But now it has two homes, and two new co-hosts. Each week you'll be able to link up from either of our sites and between us, Morgan and I will comment on the posts you link. The "rules" haven't changed either; your post needs to have been written in the last week and we'd still like you to comment on at least two other links, help us share the #PoCoLo word on Twitter and include the badge on your post.

We are also continuing to host the Newbie Showcase and will alternate this between us,  you'll find the first of them below.  Please do pop over each week and say hello to our newbie, we can all remember being a new blogger. If you'd like to feature in the Newbie Showcase, please get in touch - our list currently runs until May 2016.

But before we get onto the Newbie Showcase, thank you for stopping by today I'm hoping that together we can continue making PoCoLo the great linky it is.

Newbie Showcase: Nikki from Someplace Strange

Hello everyone!  Pleased to meet you all.  I’m Nikki Wood, aka Mrs Tubbs or Mrs T.  I’m married to Rev Tubbs, a Baptist Minister.  We have a 12 year old daughter who is in her first year of secondary school.  I work full time as a researcher at a financial institution in the City of London.  We live somewhere on the ThamesLink line.

My blog, Someplace Strange, includes posts about my family, food, politics, fashion, beauty, books, music, religion, life, the universe and everything.  Whatever takes my fancy!

When we started the journey that turned Mr T into Rev T, my late friend KenW sent me this message:

“Doesn't that [being a minister’s wife] entail you going 'round to ill parishioners and spoon-feeding them nourishing soups? Mentoring the Infants' Bible Class? Ditto Church Mothers?  Also, how are your potluck organizing skills? You ought to brush up on your vestry and altar decorating knowledge, as no doubt you'll be asked to head those committees. If I were you, I'd start drinking heavily now”.

I decided to start blogging instead.  All drinking heavily gets you is a hangover!  I started off on LJ, gave up and then picked up again on Blogger a few years later.  After a short break when my mum had her final illness, I’ve been blogging ever since.

There isn’t a grand plan for Someplace Strange.  Maybe write, share, hope people enjoy and make friends and learn new things.  It seems to be going well so far.  The blogging community has been really welcoming and I’ve met some great people.  Thank you.

It’s hard to choose the posts I’m most proud of as I’m proud of all of them.  You have to believe in what you’re about to press publish on. They’re all my favourites! Instead, here are a few that give you a flavour of what Someplace Strange is about:

Lastly, I’d like to thank Victoria, Morgan and Stephanie for having me.  #PoCoLo was the first Linky I ever joined.  Victoria was one of (the?) first person to comment on my blog. I’m looking forward to being part of the next instalment and I wish the new hosts all the best.
